OUR MISSION To provide the highest quality environmental research, education and advocacy programmes for the communities of the Western Region in order to help achieve our vision. OUR AIMS - To conduct research into, and engage in education and advocacy about, important environmental issues facing the Western Region.
- To assist local communities and Councils develop ecologically sustainable planning and development policies. In particular, this would include the integration of ecologically sustainable development principles and practices into the Quality Community Plans and other medium to long-term vision documents developed by Councils and their communities.
- To provide an example of world’s best practice in the design and construction of the Centre and to develop the Centre as an example of ecologically desirable design which can be visited by:
- schools
- community groups
- TAFE and tertiary students engaged in building design, architecture, etc.
- Developers and builders, architects, etc.
- To provide a venue for research into environmental issues and to link such research programmes to the academic programmes at Victoria University.
